Memorial Day weekend

The theme for Memorial Day weekend was fun in the sun and ice cream! The weather was perfect but it was hot. If this weekend was any indication of what our summer we be like, we sure have a lot to look forward to!
We started the weekend with dinner at DotDot and Grandaddy's.  Aunt Ashley is at the beach this week so we had our family dinner a few days early.

Drew and Anna Kate enjoying their ice cream like big kids.  They are getting quite independent and want to feed themselves these days.

We had some things to do around the house so we stuck around on Saturday so we could get them out of the way and enjoy the rest of the weekend. We did go out Saturday evening for a quick trip to Guitar Center (Daddy just couldn't pass up their Memorial Day sale) and we stopped by DotDot and Grandaddy's on the way home.  They even found more ice cream at their house!
Anna Kate doing her work on Saturday. She had text messages and emails to send.

Sunday was our busy day.  We started the day early with breakfast with DotDot and Grandaddy.  After breakfast we made a trip to Target, then back to DotDot and Grandaddy's house to play for a bit then lunch.  After naps, we went to Aunt Teresa's house at the lake and swam, played outside with the family, had dinner, and even a boat ride. There may have been more ice cream involved.  It was a great day!
 Drew enjoying his breakfast.
Anna Kate liked her breakfast but she liked the people watching even more.
AK & D racked up on their trip to Target with DotDot!
Drew sporting his new helmet he got at Target.  Anna Kate got some fairy wings that she thinks she looks beautiful in. DotDot said she likes looking at herself in the mirror when she wears them.  She also got a baby bottle for her baby doll.  She is becoming quite the little mother and enjoys taking care of her baby by feeding her, giving it her "pappi", and even trying to change her diaper. Its pretty cute!
Taking a swim with Daddy and Uncle Aaron.  They enjoyed the pool more this weekend than they did the last time.  The water was a little warmer and I think that helped.
I promise she was having more fun than it looks!
Getting dried off so we could go "deeet" dinner.
Drew exploring the boat with Aunt Teresa.  Fun side story: We (John Clay, Teresa, Megan, Aaron, and I) decided to go on a boat ride after dinner.  We got off the lift and out of the dock and realized the boat wouldn't start.  After about 10 minutes of trying to get it to start and almost giving up and trying to figure out how to get back to the dock, we realized that Drew had somehow pulled the kill switch while he was down there messing around.  Leave it up to the little mechanic to push any and every button and pull all the cords!
Anna Kate playing ball with Aaron.  She is getting better and even throws the ball forward now instead of behind her.
Drew wearing his Mamaw's hat and showing out for Megan.  Have I mentioned how much he loves "Mimi"? I think Anna Kate loves her equally as much.

Sunday was another day around the house.  After the munchkins got up from their nap, we went outside and played in the pool and sprinkler until it was time for dinner.  I didn't get any pictures but I promise they had a good time!

Shenanigans

The shenanigans of my little ones sure do keep us entertained Sometimes they make us nervous, sometimes the make us shake our heads, and most of the time they make us laugh!
Anna Kate worked and worked to get up here the other day. I guess she thought this was a good reading perch. The funniest part of this picture is that she was reading John Clay's mowing schedule.
This is one of those head shaking/nervous moments. They decided it was a good idea to open the ottoman lid, climb up it, then ride it down. Repeat. It kept them quite entertained.
We were getting ready to leave the other day and I told Anna Kate to get her lovey so we could leave.  I guess she decided that her kitty, bucket, and beach ball were also necessities for bye-bye. Heaven help me if that is any indicator of what kind of packer she will be in the future!
This is how Drew rides in the car now.  He is way too cool for school. (See Anna Kate;s beach ball? It is a staple for leaving now days)
Anna Kate got into my workout bag last night and decided she needed to dress up. She has on my tennis shoes, that is my sports bra around her neck (don't worry, it was clean) and of course, her purse.  She is so fashionable!
Drew doesn't like to be left out of diaper changes.
This one cracks me up. Anna Kate still likes to get her clothes out and dress herself up. She is getting closer to getting it right, she just isn't there quite yet. Haha!

Two is better than one!

Whew!

This weekend was a whirlwind! We went to a concert in Pigeon Forge, went to a ball game, went to the lake, and did some work around the house. We had a great time but it is safe to say that we are all worn out!
Friday night was went to Pigeon Forge to watch Daddy's band play.  It was the first time in a while Drew and Anna Kate had seen the band and this was the first time they were really old enough to understand what was going on and have a good time.  They did a little dancing and of course, had to check everything out and see how it all was working.
I'm not sure Anna Kate and Drew realized that their Daddy was back there playing the drums until the end.  That ended up being a good thing though because once they found out he was back there, they wouldn't stay away from him!
Drew singing with Papaw Tim.  He stayed under his feet the entire night.
Anna Kate and Kylie did a lot of dancing.  I think Anna Kate was either giving her a hug or trying to get her to pick her up.  She had a lot of fun with Kylie.
A monster has been created!  Drew loved the microphone.  He wouldn't give it up whilethey were packing up so he just held it while they put everything else away.

We went to Price's t-ball game Saturday morning.  We didn't get to watch much of the game because Drew and Anna decided it was more fun to run back and forth behind the bleachers.  I should have taken their leashes!

I finally convinced Drew to take Hayes' lead and watch the game from the fence. He was just starting to get into it when the game ended.  I think he really just wanted the ball.
 Three amigos!
It is always the right time to have a snack!

After they got up from their nap Saturday afternoon, we headed to Aunt Teresa's house at the lake. They were a little unsure of the unfamiliar territory at first but they slowly came around.  We went to the pool and they both got in on the steps.  The water was a little chilly and Drew stayed in more than Anna Kate.  I don't know if they are going to be as in to the pool as they were last year.  But they did like it.
Drew being whiny.  I don't know if he was hungry or tired or what but he did more whining than anything.  He did liven up right before we left but not before we all had to listen to him cry for the majority of the evening!
Anna Kate making the hike up the big hill!
Playing in their pool toys.  After they had their bath and bottle, they were happy and ready to play.  Too bad I didn't do that sooner!

We all slept in this morning (except for Daddy.  He had to work. Poor Daddy!).  When they got up they had a surprise visitor.  Grandaddy came over to do some work on our deck.
They were conflicted about whether to watch Grandaddy work or eat breakfast.  So, we figured out a way to have the best of both worlds!
Such a good helper!  Drew would not leave Grandaddy's drill alone so I got out the one he got for Christmas so he could work too.

We had a great weekend and hope that our summer will be full of more just like them.  Now, hopefully we won't  have one of those "too tired to sleep" nights.  Drew has already been up twice so I am afraid it may not be promising.

Just another Wednesday

Wednesdays fly by like no other day.  I am so very grateful to be able to get a break from work in the middle of the week to spend with my munchkins.
This morning after breakfast we went to the bank then stopped by to surprise Grandaddy at his office. I don't know who was more excited to see who.  This is the first time the babies been able to get out and explore Grandaddy's office.  To say there is a lot of stuff for them to see there would be an understatement!
Drew did a little accounting for Grandaddy.  He thought it was fun that the calculator made noise when he hit the total button.
Anna Kate taking notes for Grandaddy and carrying the Purell around.  I think she wanted to clean for him.
Drew went straight for the tractors when we got outside.  The boy knows what he likes.
We ended the day playing outside and Drew got to mow the yard with Daddy.  If he could talk, I'm sure he would tell you that his day couldn't have ended any better.  He loves to "mow". He still insists on helping unload the mowers every afternoon when Daddy gets home so to actually get to ride on the mower for 30 minutes is like heaven to my little man. Anna Kate wants nothing to do with getting on a mower but wants to watch and run after it while they are driving away.  When the are coming back, she takes of running and I have to pick her up and hold her until they are gone again.

Mother's Day weekend

Mother's Day weekend 2012 was a pretty good one.  We were busy but we were busy doing fun stuff so it was okay.
Anna Kate and Drew had various sleep issues this week so most of our nights were sleepless.  I was beginning to think they were conspiring with each other to prevent me from ever sleeping again.  I think all the late nights finally caught up with them last night because not only did they sleep all night but they slept until 9:15 this morning.  Happy Mother's Day to me!!  I am hopeful our little rough patch is behind us now and we'll be back to sleeping good!
Friday night was a girl's night so Anna Kate and Drew stayed at Daddy Daycare with Daddy and Uncle Kris.  Reports were that they were well behaved and Daddy said Anna Kate and Drew were good too! :)
Saturday evening we celebrated Mother's Day with DotDot, Grandaddy, Aunt Ash, Mimi, Pops, Whitney, Todd, Price and Hayes as Whitney & Todd's house.  Anna Kate and Drew always enjoy getting to spend some time with their big cousins and just watch and take them in.  They enjoyed Price and Hayes' playroom and all of their fun toys too!
Saturday morning before we went to Whitney's, Drew and Anna Kate's Papaw Hubert came over to work on Daddy's truck.  Anna Kate spotted him out the window and raised the blinds so they could see him.  They sat like this at the window for the entire 30 minutes he was out there and screamed "Hey".  Papaw said he could even hear them outside.
Anna Kate has been a gatherer lately.  She will gather up her loveys and stuffed animals and try to carry them around.
Darth Drew.  Price introduced Drew to the world of Star Wars.  I thought this mask might scare him but he actually thought it was pretty great.
They really liked the trampoline.  They are quite the jumpers.
Price showing Drew how to properly have a light saber war.
 What a crew!
They really look up to Price.

Today, we spent the morning and afternoon around the house then went to Mamaw & Papaw's house for dinner with them, Papaw Tim, and Uncle Aaron.  Before we left, DotDot and Grandaddy came over and Grandaddy let Drew & Anna go out on the back porch and play in the rain.  You know they thought that was awesome!
 Puddle jumping.
This was right after Anna pulled her hat down over her eyes and right before she walked in front of Drew who fell over hear and slid across the deck.  They thought it was hilarious.
I didn't get many pictures from Mamaw & Papaw's house beside this one.  They were playing tug-of-war with a cord Drew swiped from the computer room.

Mother's Day was pretty great.  I feel so very blessed to get to celebrate it with family and my two beautiful babies!

Play Date!

We had our first official play date this morning! Trish is a friend of mine from high school that has a little girl that is 5 and a little boy that is about 3 weeks older than Anna Kate and Drew.  She actually lives in my Uncle Bill and Aunt Judy's old house not far from ours and invited us to come to her house to play.  We almost missed the play date since Drew was up most of the night Tuesday night (for a reason that is still unknown to me) but we did make it despite being completely worn out.  It was a little rainy so we didn't get to go outside but they were able to find fun things to do inside.  They had a small slide in their living room so that was a big hit.  Drew was able to find a mop and do a little cleaning and Anna Kate found the kitchen and pantry and did a little snacking so you know all was good in their world. They had lots of fun playing with their new friends and I think it is safe to say we will be doing it again soon.  We may even try to add new friends to the mix next time!
We have a pretty busy schedule for this weekend so I am sure I'll have lots to post about on Sunday night!

Anna Kate, Troy, and Drew.  Troy knows exactly what to do when the camera comes out.  Maybe he can give my two a pointer next time because they sure can be uncooperative when it comes to pictures.  And that isn't because of their lack of experience with them, that's for sure!
Anna Kate, Troy, Drew, and Reese.  Anna Kate loves "bigger" little kids (if that makes sense) so she really loved Reese. She even learned to say her name and said it the whole way home.

Drew turns the cozy coupe over a lot to "work on the brakes" as his Daddy says.  The other night he decided to climb in like this and got himself stuck (it was his big ole' head that gave him a problem).  It was pretty funny so I had to take a picture before I helped him out.
And of course, Pete and Re-Pete. Because I was laughing at Drew, Anna Kate needed to come over and get herself into the same predicament.  Most times, when one of them will fall or do something we think is funny, the other one must do it also. Poor babies are so starved for attention!
