Our third day at the beach brought better weather. We had already planned to go to Charleston for the morning since it had been so chilly so we packed up and headed out. The highlight of the trip for Drew and Anna Kate was going over the big bridge that had "trinangles". We found a place to park and set out to explore. Drew and Anna Kate spotted some fountains almost immediately and you know my water babies wanted in. We convinced them they should remain dry. We walked out onto the boardwalk and looked around some before heading down to Market Street to look through the Market. Grandaddy had planned to take everyone on a horse and carriage ride. We spent only enough time in the Market to grab some t-shirts for Drew and Anna Kate before finding out the wait for the carriage rides were pretty long and the rides themselves were 45 minutes so we headed off to get in line. The carriage and horses were exciting for D & AK but the tour itself wasn't designed for 3 year olds. Despite having to sit still for quite some time and listen to someone talk about things they knew or cared nothing about, they were really good. They had snacks and watched themselves go by in the shop windows. After our tour we grabbed some lunch and then headed back to our condo for some beach time! Charleston was a really neat city and I hope to be able to go back someday! It is definitely more interesting for adults so maybe I can even arrange for an adult only vacation in the future!
Strolling in the city. A lot of the sidewalks in Charleston are still the old cobblestone and not very conducive for strollers. It was a bumpy ride to say the least!
Checking out all of the sites.
Our horse and carriage.
Drew held out for as long as he could but he was so very tired!
Lunch time! Notice the Sprite & sweet tea? Apparently vacation means eating/drinking things they don't normally get too!
Anna Kate and Drew rested in the car and as soon as we got back to the condo we changed into our bathing suits and headed for the beach.
It was the first day it wasn't too windy to put up umbrellas. The weather was warm and great!
Serious digging happened on the beach!
Drew is definitely my ocean lover. He just went straight in with zero fear or intimidation. Sometimes, a little fear is a good thing. We really had to watch him and stay close.
"Fishing" with a piece of seaweed.
Anna Kate saw some older girls that she was dying to play with. She even went up to one of them and asked her what her name was and what her friends' names were. My little social butterfly! One of the girls was sweet enough to humor her and show her how to draw a mermaid in the sand.
Pretty girl!
Thursday night was the Harvest Moon and it was beautiful over the ocean! It was so bright, the majority of pictures I took made it look like it was daylight. The pictures don't do it justice.
